Definition
Large transfer batch size reductions indicate that parts are produced and transferred rapidly and are not allowed to wait in work-in-process buffers. Large automotive companies prefer their component suppliers to achieve a transfer batch size ratio of 10. Transfer batch size ratios are meaningless within an assembly line but are important between lines.
